Kaz- Chat Box Interview

Kaz- Chat Box Interview

Kaz is an upcoming rapper from Wolverhampton. He started his journey in 2019 with Goodbye featuring Lil Bramm which was then followed by Writin’ an Vibin’. Kaz excels in lyrical story telling rap and has taken inspiration from the 90s hip-hop scene. The artist strives for greatness and now, having just graduated University Kaz is looking to focus on his music again. Remember the name.

Yo.

Yes bro.

How’s it going man? What’s happening right now, can we expect any new music soon? I bet it’s been hard getting in the studio and stuff recently.

Yeh so, yeh I got new music coming, having been in final year of uni it’s been difficult to like, focus on music and actually get into studios because like all the studios have been closed and tryna balance the workload it’s been tough but I’ve been writing when I can and I’m just looking to record now, all of July, August and hopefully have like a summer release soon and then towards the end of the year ill look to release again and maybe even throw a music video in this year. That was on my to-do list. So I deffo wanna release more music. I’m guna try and switch it up and be a bit more versatile with it, try a different flow, try a different beat. I hopefully have another feature coming soon with Lil Bramm as well. So yeah, now I’m just looking to get back into it.

Yeh bro sounds good. Can you take us back a bit to who inspired you? Did you have a musical family growing up or was it more listening to music as and when and picking up from that?

So when I was younger I was always writing poetry and these little crap rhymes when I was a kid and just basic shit wordplay. I’ve always been inspired by like 90s music so like Tupac, Biggie, Nas, all the old school rappers and I’ve just been inspired by their lyrical ability, and I just thought one day, because I’ve always had a passion for music, why not try it myself? And I thought, “forget what everyone else thinks I’m just gunna do it for me.” So I went to the studio one day, me and Bramm went back in 2018 I think and I just recorded and just did it for myself really and went from there. I never thought I could do it as a career I just thought id do it as a hobby and just see where it takes me and it’s got me a lot of good contacts and it’s got me recognized in a few different places, got me some radio interviews but when I started I never really pictured all that so I thought I just did it for myself because I have a passion for it.

So now that you’ve been doing it a little bit more is there a next step to take it that little bit further and pursue a career in it? Maybe even get some collaborations going and that?

Yeh 100%. I’m always looking for ways to go above and beyond, like I don’t wanna stay in my comfort zone and release a single every now and then and not push it. I wanna do music videos, more music, me and Bramm have spoke about doing a summer tape together and look to get it on CD and vinyl and look to get that in shops and stuff. In Wolverhampton where I live, they support up-and-coming artists, so I think you can pay a fee and you can get them in the shops and stuff so I’m always looking to just expand so yeh I wanna try and go above and beyond what I’m already doing.

Yeh of course man and I know you’ve been doing the most. I see the Rich Minds brand you’ve got going as well, how’s that doing?

Yeh its going alright. That’s going a bit slow as well because of uni I think everything was put on a bit of a hold because of final year and covid and all that but I should have new T-shirts coming for the summer, the websites up and running, I just need some more products now. It’s all about just placing orders doing designs and just getting the sales in really yeh.

Yeh, that’s class man. We are all looking forward to seeing what you do next.

Yeah cool man, I should have some new stuff coming soon so I’ll give you a shout.

Alright yeh, cheers mate.

Cheers for that bro.
